Young farmers


Durham City. – This week’s meeting was our practice beef judging. It was a very good night, and good luck to everyone who is competing at the county beef judging.

Next week’s meeting is a junior takeover night at Byers Green Church Hall, starting at 7.30pm. Our annual scrumptious supper is tonight at Spennymoor Town Hall, at 7.30pm for 8pm. Elwick. – This week’s meeting was a visit to Farmway.

We were given a tour round the factory by Andrew, who told us when it was built, how it has changed and plans for the future. The vote of thanks was proposed by Simon. Next week’s meeting is a business meeting to look at the rally and summer programmes; meet in the WI hall at 7.30pm for a 7.45pm start.

Sedgefield. – Last week’s meeting was a talk from Rentokil.

Thanks go to Steve Bregozzi, Steve Waller and Mark Humphery for a very interesting talk. Members thoroughly enjoyed the meeting.

Members who wish to go rock climbing on March 9 need to give their £5 deposits to Luke as soon as possible.

Staindrop YFC holds a St Patrick’s Day ball at the George Hotel, Piercebridge, on March 19, from 7.30pm- 1.30am. Tickets cost £18 and money must be given to Sally. At next week’s meeting on Tuesday, an inter-club volleyball night will be held to make up a county team for the northern area weekend.
