Cathedral goes underground

AN ICONIC North-East landmark is
to be seen by up to two million people
this summer, deep beneath the
streets of London.
Durham Cathedral has been chosen
for a new advertising campaign on
the London Underground to bring
visitors to the North-East.
Giant posters featuring both the
cathedral and the Newcastle and
Gateshead Quayside will be on display
at 20 sites at tube stations across
the capital.
The campaign, run by regional development
agency One NorthEast in
conjunction with National Express
and Enjoy England, highlights special
first class rail fares to the region from
London
The campaign will be supported by
adverts in the Evening Standard,
while online marketing activity will
also attract people to the www.visitnortheastengland.
com website.
Tania Robinson, head of marketing at
One NorthEast said: "Durham Cathedral
and NewcastleGateshead quayside
both stunning locations and will
do a great job selling the region."
