Sir, – As your readers are aware the Durham Taxpayers Alliance is a registered political party. However, it does not put canditates up for election in general elections. although it could do so. It concentrates on local issues for the people of Durham. I have been following the major political parties carefully, and come to the following conclusion.
At the next general election, the Tories have no chance of being elected in Durham – there is too much bad history (the mines, etc) between them and the people of Durham, and no matter what David Cameron says, I do not believe that the Tories will bring anything new to Durham.
Labour have had 13 years to put things right, and although they have had many achievements in those 13 years, they have run their course.
While I have the greatest respect for Dr Blackman Woods – she has assisted me in the past – I do not think she is the right person to take Durham into the next decade.
All of the other parties, for example the BNP and UKIP, have their own agendas and none of it will benefit the people of Durham.
Which brings me to the conclusion that the Lib Dems with Carol Woods should be given a chance to provide the people of Durham with a new beginning.
Carol has done a lot of stirling work in the area, and in my opinion would make a fine representative in Parliament for the people of Durham.
I would urge all supporters of the Durham Taxpayers Alliance plus any disillusioned Labour, Conservative, and any other party supporters to vote for Carol Woods at the next General Election.
