RENOWNED artist Peter Standen has launched an exhibition of his spectacular and dramatic art.
The Edinburgh-based artist opened Into the Mind’s Eye exhibition at Collingwood College at Durham University.
Featuring paintings and prints, the exhibition presents a collection of work spanning a career of more than 50 years.
It includes early paintings of the Sudan, completed shortly after the artist graduated from Edinburgh College of Art, to later works depicting a futuristic and tropical Scotland and Durham in the throes of an environmental apocalypse.
The most recent piece on display is an etching of Durham Cathedral created specifically for this exhibition, depicting the Galilee Chapel in Durham Cathedral as it might look in the future.
The exhibition runs until Sunday, and is open from 10am to 4pm at weekends or on weekdays by appointment. All work is available for purchase.
