PAINTINGS reflecting the life of a Durham artist have gone on show.
Faces and Places by Peter Hemming will be displayed throughout June at The Bishop Cosin’s Almshouse Cafe at Palace Green.
It features portraits and landscapes from the North-East, as well people and places he came across while living in Greece and France.
Mr Hemming, 64, from Belmont, Durham, said: ‘‘It is a retrospective, but features brand new work as well.
‘‘There is a couple of old Greek boys there and a lady called Mukhtar Mei, who was a victim of gang rape in her village in India some years ago. The landscapes of Greece are totally different from the landscape of Durham.
‘‘I hope people will see that I have been around a bit as well as looking at some good and varied artwork.’’ The exhibition has oil on canvas as well a water-colours and all works are available for sale.
