POLICE believe two smart phone thefts from neighbouring city centre stores may be linked.

Staff from Carphone Warehouse, on Silver Street, Durham City, reported an iPhone 5 had been stolen on Sunday, December 2.

They found no CCTV footage and do not know when the theft happened.

The day before, a man took an iPhone 5 from the Vodafone store, also on Silver Street.

He had two accomplices. The theft took place between 3.15pm and 3.30pm.

Police believe the two thefts are connected. They want to speak to the men pictured here.

The first man is described as: white, in his 40s, of medium build, with a fair complexion, short dark hair but bald on top, a dark moustache and goatee beard, wearing a dark jacket and blue jeans.

The second is described as: white, aged 30 to 40, of medium build, with a fair complexion, clean shaven, short cropped receding dark brown hair, wearing a dark top and dark trousers.

The third is described as: white, in his 20s, of slim build, with a fair complexion, short dark hair, clean shaven and wearing a dark hooded jacket with white markings and zips.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers on 0800-555-111 or Durham police on 101.
