A STUDENT was overjoyed when she won a VIP ticket to the Glastonbury festival at the second attempt.

Rachel Burnham was the lucky reserve chosen to receive the pass when the original winner of a competition did not claim the prize.

The competition was organised by Studenthomezone, a student landlord in Durham City.

Martin Nixon, landlord of the New Inn pub, in Durham, drew Charlotte Sobey's name out first, but Miss Sobey, a student at Durham University's Collingwood College, did not come forward.

Peter Smith, from Studenthomezone, said: "Part of the rules were that the winner had to come forward within 36 hours. We had an email address and mobile number for Charlotte and we even got Collingwood College to leave a message at her home.

"We think that they may have gone on holiday and still may not know about the lost win."

Rachel, a first year student at Durham University's St Cuthbert's Society, went to Glastonbury with boyfriend Alex Subota, staying at the exclusive Windinglake Farm.

Among the acts playing this year's festival were Jay-Z and The Verve.

Miss Burnham said: "We had the most amazing time and staying in the luxury of Windinglake Farm made a great difference."
