MEN and boys will be taking part in a sponsored walk next month.
The men’s health challenge sponsored walk takes place at Rainton Meadows Nature Reserve, just off the A690 between Durham City and Houghton-le-Spring, on Saturday, June 27.
The event is designed to highlight men’s health issues, although women and girls are being encouraged to attend and show support.
Organised by Durham Wildlife Trust and Durham Primary Care Trust, the walk takes place on a one-mile circuit around the nature reserve, with participants allowed to do as many, or as few, laps as they like between 12.30pm and 3.30pm.
During the day, health professionals will be on hand to carry out health checks and give advice, while men’s health support groups will be available with general information about health issues.
Registration costs £2 per person, or £1 for members of the Wildlife Trust, and all proceeds will be shared between Durham Wildlife Trust and a number of men’s health charities. Anyone wishing to take part should visit Durham Wildlife Trust’s website at www.durhamwt.co.uk or ring 0191-584-3112.
