DURHAM has reached the finals of Britain in Bloom. The city has again been shortlisted in the large town/small city with a population of 12,000 to 35,000 category.
Durham, which won silver last year and gold in 2005, will contest the title with Bicester, Bury St Edmunds, Coleraine, Colwyn Bay and Perth, while Sedgefield has been named a finalist in the small town category.
Andrew Jackson, a member of the Durham in Bloom team, said: “In order to repeat the city’s success, we need everyone’s help.”
Organisers are asking businesses to sponsor hanging baskets, schools to tie the competition in with projects and properties to be kept neat and tidy. The winners will be announced in September.
