Teenager robbed in woods

A TEENAGER was beaten up and robbed as she walked her puppy through woods.

The 17-year-old girl was left with a black eye and swollen nose after being punched and kicked during the attack.

She was walking her Staffordshire Bull Terrier puppy along a walkway through woods behind South View and Heugh Edge, at Edmondsley, near Sacriston on Thursday, July 5 when the incident took place.

AT about 6pm, she was talking on her Blackberry phone when a man aged around 20 ran past her, then doubled back and demanded her phone.

When she refused, he kicked her in the legs and she dropped the phone to the ground. As she reached down to pick it up, the man punched her in the face and made off with the phone towards Lingey Close, in Sacriston.

The attacked is described as being of medium build, wearing a black ‘tea cosy’ style beanie style hat, black adidas tracksuit bottoms with three white stripes down each leg.

The mobile phone is a purple Blackberry Curve 9300 mobile phone handset, which was in a clip-on plastic case with a Union Jack motif.

Anyone with information is asked to ring police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
