THE Queen has arrived in the North-East for a whistle-stop tour of the region as part of her diamond jubilee celebrations.

Accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh, Her Majesty will witness a flypast by a Vulcan bomber in Sunderland, see the expanded Tyne Tunnel, have lunch at Durham Castle and open a white water course at Tees Barrage.

We will be covering her visit with live updates, photographs and videos throughout the day on our website. People can also share their experiences of the tour and views about the jubilee on Twitter using hashtag #echoroyal.

Thursday’s newspaper will feature a special souvenir supplement with photographs from the visit.
