A MYSTERY County Durham man achieved an Olympic gold all of his own after banking a £1m lottery win on the night of the opening ceremony.
The EuroMillions Millionaire Raffle winner, who is known only as Mr R, played online during a one-off EuroMillions event to mark the Games in which 100 millionaires were created in the UK.
So far 92 millionaires have claimed their £1m cheque meaning the draw has smashed the world record for the most millionaires made in a single draw.
A National Lottery spokesperson said: “Well done to Mr R, he has banked this amazing prize with just a few simple clicks – he didn’t even have to pick up a ticket. If you play interactively, not only do we check your numbers, we also let you know you have won – it couldn’t be easier.”

As for identifying who it is, that is up to Mr R himself. We the public don't want or need to know.
