Sole surviving game a thriller

Only one game survived in the Durham County League, and it turned into a thriller as Ushaw Moor made their first game of the season a memorable one by scraping a one-wicket win at Brandon.

Steve Hancock (5-27) had Brandon rattled despite a half century from Stephen Parnaby, and with Kiwi Josh Tasman- Jones showing his quality with five fours and three sixes in an impressive half century the target of 127 looked comfortable. But his dismissal for 53 set the nerves on edge as Scott Nattrass (4- 29) turned the screw, and it took number ten bat Peter Maddison (10no) to hold his nerve in the exciting finale.
