August 21: summer show, Streatlam Farm, near Barnard Castle. All usual classes including ex-racers, dressage and SJ. Tack and tog sale on the field, limited tables available. £5 per table, booking required. Aug 28: Ride for Life, in aid of MacMillan Cancer Support, East Durham College, Houghall Campus. Third cup for sprint king Dandy

SPRINT king Dandy Nicholls landed his third Stewards’ Cup last Saturday at Goodwood with 20-1 shot Evens And Odds, who was well ridden by five-pound claimer Billy Cray, who rides out regularly for the Thirsk trainer.
