Yorke signs on at Sunderland
DWIGHT YORKE has signed a 12-month extension of his contract at Sunderland, despite offers from elsewhere.
The former Manchester United striker has been mulling over the terms put in front of him since the end of the season.
But, after considering his options with a possibility of a return to Australia strong, the 36-year-old was back in the North-East today to pen the deal.
Yorke will now embark on his 20th pre-season training programme on June 11, ahead of a summer schedule that sees Sunderland head to Portugal and Ireland for friendlies.
"In the end, it was a straightforward decision," said Yorke, who hopes to figure prominently in manager Roy Keane's first team plans next season.
