Anger over home demolition plans

Residents in Esh Winning are angry after only hearing of plans to demolish their homes when a brochure dropped through their letterbox, despite the council saying that a consultation exercise had taken place. Were you consulted? What do you think of how the matter has been handled?

A revamp of Durham Market Place suggested that two statues - those of Neptune and Lord Londonderry - be relocated to create more space. Now, following a consultation and the incredible response of Durham residents, they are to stay where they are. What do you think of the proposals and the manner of the consultation?

Should farmland be turned into woods?

Farmland at Low urn, on the edges of Durham, is to be turned into woodland after being bought at auction by the Woodland Trust. However, farmers have said it is unrealistic to take the land out of food production at a time of rising food prices. What do you think the land should be used for? Farmland? Woodland? Or some other development?

Labour to control unitary authority - but only just

With the Labour party having gained slender control of the new County Durham unitary authority, what are your thoughts on the new council? Is Labour the right choice? Will the narrow margin of their majority be a positive thing in that it will provide strong debate? Or will it leave the new body struggling for identity?

Should Kepier plan have been approved?

A row has erupted after residents were not given a chance to outline their objections to a plan for a new house before the scheme was approved. Durham MP Roberta Blackman-Woods has also criticised the council for allowing delegated approvawl of the plan. What do you think?

Citizens win the title

Durham City footballers are champions of the Arngrove Northern League Division One - but may not be promoted to the Unibond League because improvements to the Archibald Stadium will be finished too late in order for them to be move up. What do you think of the Citizens' achievements, and the prospect of them having to defend their title next year rather than moving up the pyramid?
