Liberal Democrats on Durham City Council are worried that voters will be confused by election material for the forthcoming elections to what will become a unitary authority for Durham. Should people be asked to vote for candidates to Durham County Council? And if not, what should the new authority be called?

Call it Durham County Council because that is exactly what it will be. It would also save vast sums of our money which would need to be spent changing the name on the thousands of items on which the current name appears.

To the Lib-Dems:
Why should you think that the people of County Durham will be confused. Is it not about time that you realised we are not all witless idiots?
Many of us can actually use our brains to think and reason about things.

Typical of Durham's Lib Dems to spend their time arguing about the Council's name rather than trying to get the best from it for Durham.

Thank goodness their time of mismanaging the City is coming to an end!

I could not agree more with all the above points i cant understand why the liberal democrats think we are so thick. One Council one name. Its easy. The sooner we loose the liberal democrats from power the better.

I agree with all the preceeding comments about crediting people with intelligence. Perhaps they judge us by their standards. After all how intelligent do you have to be to ignore peoples views about disastrous planning policies that are morphing our unique city into everywhereville? For example, which bright spark decided to call the new pool Freemans Quay? What quay? The Wear was never made navigable so why are they celebrating failure. Given it's location, better to name it after Icy Smith whose ingenuity is recognised in this weeks paper.

It should remain as is otherwise we all pay the price of re-branding!
